We are looking for a flexible, social, self- confident, presentable, honest, hardworking, detail oriented, hands-on person to run a 4 star-hotel pushing to become a 5-star hotel soon.
Main Tasks
Leadership role in overseeing daily business operations and professional approaches towards the managing of the hotel
Strong operational fundamentals and overseeing of all areas (Villa’s, rooms, river beach, river decks and laundry house were completely lacking supervision)
Close supervision in F&B, Guest relations, Reception, Rooms/ Villa's, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Administration and staff well-being/ their housing/ staff menu
Hands on in all departments ensuring the smooth running of the entire operation
Set clear guidelines per working area, create hotel manuals
Create projections, forecasts, budgets, monthly financial evaluations and set financial targets
Setting up, maintaining and managing hotel operations systems
Being the first host to all guests of the hotel and have highest guest satisfaction rates
Flexible working hours including F&B management and supervision (early mornings, late evenings on shifts with the OPM and F&B manager) Weekends hand on (free day shall be during the weekdays)
Developing and implementing growth strategies in Sales & Marketing
Reducing costs of the kitchen and expenses in general
Generating monthly reports and presenting to the owners
Direct daily supervision of the Operational Manager, the HOD’s, the Chef/ kitchen, the accountant, the Reservationist, and the Receptionists
Strong finance control, theft control, creating profitability plans, set targets and monthly financial reports to the owners
Implementation of proper service and etiquettes and staff development and trainings and being close to staff
Daily operation of the F&B POS, Hotel PMS- Ezee reservations system, booking.com, Expedia, GM email, Info email, Marketing email and the back booking engine of the website
Stock control, purchase and order (together with the stock taker and accountant)
Kitchen management (until head chef is recruited)- consistency in the menu, purchase, orders, receiving, stock, theft control, hygiene control, store organization, date labeling supervision and prep supervision
Close supervision of OPM in hotel maintenance, car maintenance, government issues, management of gardeners, driver and security, machines (generator, electric fence, washing machines, panic buttons), pool chemicals, security etc.
HR- team meetings, recruitment, staff evaluations, warning letters, contracts and staff guidelines/ job descriptions
Marketing, event planning, upselling, strategies to improve revenue
Improving revenue, reducing expenditure is a major first task
Requirements
Fluent in English (written and spoken)
Preferably European candidates with at least 2 years' experience working in Tanzania (Tanzanian culture and language) and at least 10 years' experience in Hotel Management
Strong knowledge of Booking.com, Expedia, back office Ezee PMS and POS
Strong typing and administrational skills (QuickBooks, Excel and filing)
Strong guest relations and HR skills
Confident in increasing revenue, picking up aggressive marketing and upselling
Strong finance control skills
Strong communication skills with the ability reporting direct to the owners of the hotel and accept their involvement especially in the beginning until trust is built. We are coming from bad experiences with managers, chefs, theft and weak communication
