Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer with over 10 years of experience in designing and managing the construction of highways and road infrastructure. We are looking for the suitable candidate with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the construction in accordance with the provision of contract
- Comprise road surveys, construction of pavement structures
- Manage site operations to ensure that only the best construction practices are followed, and the final product is equal to or better than that specified in full compliance with the governing specifications.
- Supervise the construction works with due diligence and efficiency and in accordance with sound technical, administrative, financial and economic practices
- Conduct design review and assist in approving
- Prepare weekly and monthly project updates and reporting
- Update and maintain master schedule for the project
- Coordinate and supervise the team to avoid unnecessary claims and mentor junior engineers and technicians
- Record, examine and evaluate any claims submitted by the client
- Client contact for technical and design matters
- Maintaining and developing client relationships
- Technical management of junior project staff
- Provide support in bid preparation and the work winning process
- Providing support and integration to other design teams
- Undertake design reviews and checking.
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Master's degree in civil/ Highway Engineering will be an advantage.
- Must be a registered Professional Civil Engineer before 2018
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the supervision of road design/construction/rehabilitation/maintenance operations. Must have also experience on rural roads projects
- Should have at least five years of experience in a leading position and in supervising design and construction/supervision teams
- Must have proven ability to manage and administer road construction contracts
- Knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, Civil CAD, Civil 3D and other structural design software is an asset
- Ability to lead, build and sustain effective work relationships with clients, subordinates and peers to achieve common goal.
- Readiness to regularly travel to projects sites
- Fluency in both written and oral English is essential, whilst excellent communication skills are essential.
