Overall Objective of the job
To provide strong and effective financial controllership to the company thus ensuring that there is a complete and efficient collection of revenues, payment to suppliers and optimum funds management. S/He will be responsible for analysing and presenting financial reports in an accurate and timely manner. S/He will manage the annual audit process, coordinate the annual budgeting and planning process as well as manage the vat, tax and required statutory returns, submissions and payments.
Role Description
- Ensure maintenance of the General Ledger and that all balances are accurate and complete
- Analyse business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice
- Check and reconcile manufacturing variances and yields analysis and interpretation of cost variances on a monthly basis
- Financial Planning and analysis
- Preparations of timely and accurate monthly/quarterly management reports
- Perform fixed asset processing to enable reporting and Capital expenditure management
- Develop, maintain, and analyse budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs
- Prepare, examine, or analyse accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
- Preparing weekly cash flow statements and controlling expenditure and cash flow and maintaining adequate cash flow
- Coordinate both external and internal audits and ensure effective implementation of audit recommendations, making of final accounts
- Implementation of financial risk management policies of the company, which include insurance of assets and open risks, tax risk management and forex risks
- Train and develop the skills of the Finance staffs and provide opportunities for skill development to ensure high quality support to the business unit management team
- Take ownership of consolidated Book of Accounts, Review, sign-off and ensuring compliance, including monthly/ Quarterly /Annual closure as per IAS & IFRS standard
- Monitoring of daily/ weekly and monthly bank reconciliations and prompt resolution of aged reconciling items
- Ensure compliance to local tax laws e.g. PAYE, WHT, VAT, Compensating Tax (Dividend), etc including payments and returns;
- Champion/ Module coordinator of the FI (Financials) of the applicable ERP system
Education, Professional Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option), Business Management (Accounting/Finance Option), Economics, or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
- Qualified Accountant (CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent) are a mandatory requirement
- Be registered with a professional body such as ICPAK, ACCA
- Relevant experience in finance and accounting in a large to medium size manufacturing company, four years of which are in a managerial position
- Working experience on a progressive ERP especially on FI and CO modules
