Main Purpose of the Job
The job holder of this position will be required to
manage all logistics related to transportation of cargo from Tanzania to
intended destination, by ensuring that all cargos are loaded, transported and
delivered as per requirements.
Key Functions
- Implement and executes logistics policy and procedures
- Prepare and plan for operation manpower requirement
- Plan and Manage Loading of fuel and other cargos
- Review performance of staff under Operation Department
- Approve execution of Department undertakings as per operation procedures
- Ensure all operations adhere to laws and guidelines
- Plan and monitor transit deliveries
- Work with other departments to incorporate logistics within the company
- Coordinate with terminals to ensure smooth moving/loading of cargo
- Evaluate budgets and expenditures
- Update and evaluates metrics to assess performance and implement enhancements
- Achieve Company KPIs objectives including trip turnaround, reduction of road expenses and reduction of downtime
- GPS tracking to ensure moderate
- Ensure that daily reports are sent to client promptly
- Strict control of night driving to minimize road accident
- Respond to accident/breakdown of trucks, troubleshooting and safety of cargo and truck
- Plans for cargo to ensure efficient turnaround of truck
- Ensure drivers are provided with safety gears (PPE)
- Perform any other duties as may have assigned by Management
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Transport and Logistics, Supply Chain or relevant field
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of cargo Transportation
- Basic Knowledge of computer application
- Ability to effectively apply scheduling techniques to own work
- Basic knowledge of record management systems (manual and automated)
- Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Good communication skills
- Performance driven and result oriented individual
