Job Brief
The
job holder will provide effective IT assistance across all aspects of the
business and will provide backup and support to the IT Head. The job holder is
responsible for supporting and maintaining Microsoft desktop and server
operating systems and general maintenance of all IT-related hardware /
software. The position provides exposure to a broad range of IT-related
projects and activities. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with
the Head of Department to provide insights on IT operations issues and project
in progress. The role requires the candidate to be proactive as well as
reactive to certain situations. He/ She is by nature confronted to challenges
to deliver quality service to customers.
Detailed Job Description
- Provide
technical support in the use of desktops and laptops, software and tailored
business applications
- Set up
and configure desktop and laptops, peripherals and assign security accounts as
appropriate
- Diagnose
and resolve technical issues. Implement corrective action procedures and/or
escalate to IT Lead
- Administer
domain user / computer accounts. Setting up new users and disabling expired AD
objects in accordance with HR requirements
- Undertake
IT projects as instructed by the IT Head
- Install
authorized software to company laptops and desktops
- Ensure
security patches, hotfixes and upgrades are applied and kept up to date on all
desktops and laptops. To work in conjunction with IT Lead for Server-side
patching
- Ensure
Printer and PC parks lists are up to date at any given time. Ensure asset tags
are available on ALL IT ASSETS
- Work with
hardware vendors. Consistent record keeping on Laptops / IT equipment being
sent for repairs To have an up-to-date list on what is under repairs at any
given time with all references and details as to the equipment - problem,
symptoms, etc
- Physical
network troubleshooting. Patching, identification of ports and switches
- Responsible
for managing backup tape rotation and ensure full logging is available
- Printer
consumables management. Ensure all records are kept and online system up to
date
- Ensure
Board room and training rooms' IT equipment are kept tidy and are operational
at all times
- Work
extra hours to meet deadlines, as required and where reasonable
- Perform
miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the IT Head
- Routines: Daily Backup tape rotation, Run weekly diagnostics on CCTV as outlined in CCTV
verification procedures, Weekly communication with Service Supervisors for technical
laptop verifications
- Assist in
the procurement process of IT equipment
- End user
training. Ensure first level training delivered as part of delivering quality
service
- Perform
basic administrative support duties as required to meet specific operational
objectives
Major Requirements & Skills
- Relevant IT or Computer Science/ Engineering Degree
- Minimum of 5 years’ cognate experience
- Demonstrated understanding of IT Management
- Knowledge of computer systems, maintenance, server administration, installation, repair and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of computer networking, LAN, WLAN installation, configuration, troubleshooting
- Good interpersonal skills, should be able to interact with all staff across all level and cadre
- Creative, open to new ideas and ability to multi-task effectively
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Good planning and coordinating skills
- Good analytical skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
