Role Summary
We are looking forward into filling a General Manager position for imports and exports. The successful candidates will lead strategic goal planning and manage execution to meet the company's goals. He/ She will be responsible for the sales and financial performance of the team and for all personnel, financial, and reporting requirements necessary to ensure that ongoing operations are performed in a cost-effective manner. This position includes travel to execute business.
Responsibilities
- Set and submit financial performance goals, including a revenue and expense budget, for the company
- Monitor company performance against financial goals, review progress regularly with management, and communicate progress regularly with company
- Architect and own the company business plan, ensure alignment with enterprise strategies
- Measure, monitor, and communicate updates regarding performance against company business plan and update plan as necessary on a regular basis
- Effectively manage relationships with current customers ranging from small companies to large multi-national organizations
- Understand, implement, and ensure adoption of technology within the the company
- Assess and understand market opportunities and trends, and how market conditions impact business performance and financials
- Understand and forecast company hiring needs
- Ensure employees have quality PDPs, communicates about development opportunities, and act as an advocate for employee development
- Monitor company performance against goals and communicate with the company about progress
- Measure employee performance against KPIs
- Provide input and guidance with regard to disciplinary action related to employee performance, acts as a company escalation point
Requirements
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University. Masters Degree is a plus
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience in logistics/ freight forwarding sector, including 5+ years in people management, development and operations
- Acute sense of business acumen
- Successful and proven sales and sales management track record
- New account sales success, and large account management skills
- Strong communication skills both written & verbal
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
