Position Purpose
We
are looking for Trailer Mechanic to provide maintenance duties in support of
company management by ensuring trailers and other vehicles that haul large goods are serviced and maintained in a
proper manner.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform Duties in a safe and responsible manner
- General Overhaul and repair works on trailers or other automotive mechanical equipment
- Service, inspect, diagnose and repair trailer bodies, systems and components
- Use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot faults, and hand tools to dissemble and assemble engines
- Clean fuel tanks
- Adjust hubs and axles
- Complete paperwork and records for repairs
- Fix braking and hydraulics systems
- Inspect the overall condition of trailers to ensure that they meet Transportation's safety requirements
- Carry out any other related duties that may be assigned
Major Requirements
- Minimum Certificate in Mechanics, Diploma or Degree
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical repair of trailer or construction/heavy equipment
- Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in the repair of automotive equipment
- Knowledge of the operating principles of engines, and of mechanical repair of trailers and construction equipment
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability to diagnose defects in automotive equipment and make necessary repairs
- Ability to interpret and work from sketches and pencil diagrams
- Skill in the use and the operation of tools and machinery used in automotive repair work
- Language skills in both English and Swahili preferred
