Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to optimise our aftersales department within the allocated area of responsibility in a sustainable and profitable manner. The Technical Manager should lead technological development activities. Also need to possess a high degree of expertise in the given technical area, need be able to lead a team of technicians and manage the line supervisors in our aftersales department.
Key Performance Areas
- Administration of aftersales processes and customer information
- Market segmentation and target group identification (Database upkeep)
- Setting targets that's aligned to the overall business strategy
- Provide for a strong leadership role for future benefit and growth of the company
- Taking on the responsibility of directing the aftersales department and its business portfolio to ensure efficient and effective operations on a day to day activities
- Oversee technical business development
- Provide proper budget planning on both income and expense side
- Building and maintaining strategic relationships with customers
- Provide Support to debt collection
- Prepare detailed reports for each product group
- Provide support to technicians and customers
- Working together and communicating with other departments within the company
- Follow up on existing customers and ensure business retention
- Create Value for customers through continuous market research and development
- Take responsibility for revenue targets and manage profit and losses to the company
- Take ownership of customers problems and resolve issues through support processes
- Maintain a safe working environment (according to safety policy and procedures)
- Achieve individual scorecard KPIs
- Effective self-management and performance ownership
- Adherence to any reasonable instruction
Qualification, Experience & Competencies
- Preferable must have a Technical Degree
- Minimum Form 4 Schooling, Post Form 6 qualifications would be advantageous
- Minimum 10 years' work experience in management position or Supervisor
- Must be safe-motivated and able to work largely unmanaged
- Strong ability to enter new customer markets
- Ability to acquire new accounts
- Ability to build professional relationships with key customers
- Effectively manage the workshop and aftersales team enabling the team to reach the required and set out targets
- Lead and develop technical knowhow of the technicians
- Conduct weekly and monthly meetings with the technicians and management
- Maintain strong communication channels with the various suppliers
- Ability to work under immense pressure
- Ability to think clearly in conflict situations
- Must be reliable, honest and show integrity
- Valid driver's licence
- Computer Literate
- Good understanding of electronics, diesel, petrol and LPG engines, hydraulics, transmissions
