Job Purpose 

The position will be responsible for the Stores, inventory management and purchasing in Trasnsportation industry. Play an effective role in the procurement activities of the company. Support the development of improved administrative, storekeeping, purchasing procedures and the supply chain to ensure that the company receives a quality, responsive, cost effective and efficient supply of goods and services. Effectively manage the financial aspect of the stores, reduce obsolete stock, define min/max stock, and order quantity levels. Introduce Just-in-time processes to suit company operations.


Principal Accountabilities

  • Full management responsibility for stores, inventory management, purchasing and monitor stock levels and expenditure against budget 
  • Play an effective role in the procurement activities of the company. Liaison with Corporate Purchasing and Contracts as necessary 
  • Support the development of improved administrative, storekeeping, purchasing procedures and the supply chain to ensure that the company receives a quality, responsive, cost effective and efficient supply of goods and services.
  • Develop and maintain professional vendor relationships at a local and international level 
  • Effectively manage the financial aspects of the stores, reduce obsolete stock, define min/max stock, and order quantity levels 
  • Introduce Just-in-time processes to suit company operations 
  • Manage the daily operations
  • Maintain documentation of  Stores policies & procedures

 


Requirements & Experience

  • A Graduate or equivalent with demonstrable experience of stores in Purchasing, Materials Management and Supervision
  • 5 or more years of experience at a Supervisory or Management level in inventory management and procurement role, preferably from the transportation industry.
  • Proven track record in a variety of inventory management and procurement concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Computer skills - knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft, and PowerPoint 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills with confidence to deal with people at all levels 
  • Well developed lateral and analytical thinking skills
