JOB PURPOSE
On behalf of our esteemed client, we are looking for Procurement Manager responsible for effective implementation of
procurement strategy while ensuring the company gets value for money in all its
purchases.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Initiate, plan, develop and implement
strategies for the improvement of the overall procurement process to maintain
economy and efficiency of operation. Also monitor purchasing activities for materials
inline with global sourcing plan, lead and manage the development of strategic
contracts for materials/services and market securing optimum price and
delivery
- Lead negotiations to get best purchasing value
for the company. Identify and propose most cost effective ways of
purchasing for the business. Develop procurement plans for marketing materials
- Review contract provisions and contract
accuracy and changes prior to bid and renewal. Manage vendor relations,
coordinate supplier qualification process, monitor supplier performance and
take timely actions. Work in close co-ordination with cost center owners in the
acquisition and disposal of company assets. Analyze and monitor procurement
spend, challenge the way services are being delivered and managed and present
options to upper management on alternative service provision through effective
procurement options
- Meet annual target for savings and other KPIs
through improved procurement processes,. Achieve measurable year on year cost,
risk and value improvement and avoid vendor innitiated cost increase
- View all purchase orders prepared, ensure
quotations are in line with company policy and authorize purchase orders before
sending to suppliers/or obtain additional authorization in line with company
authority levels. Run PO report to ensure that the correct purchasing flow is
used as defined in Corporate Policy. Ensure that Buyers review all open
purchase orders on a weekly basis to identify long outstanding purchase orders
and follow up with suppliers accordingly
- Ensure that purchasing documents are filed
appropriately and in an auditable state. Continuous process improvement in
operations, decrease order turnaround times and streamline work processes
- Develop purchasing policies and procedures,
ensure that these are in line with company policies and objectives and ensure
that company policies and procedures are adhered to
- Perform any other duties reasonably requested
by management
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- University degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or its equivalent
- 5+ years managerial experience in Procurement Department
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili
- Competence in the use of MS Office and Understanding of any procurement system
FUNCTIONAL SKILLS
Strong negotiations skills, knowledge of procurement methods and procedures of a large scale centralized purchasing function including buying, contract management and risk management. General business understanding, analytical skills, general management and project management skills, good financial accumen
